Vista Ultimate Cannot Ping Domain Controller

C

chris barrington

I have 2 Vista laptops on the network. Neither systems can ping or \\ the new
domain controller (by name or IP) unless I remote in from another machine and
ping our laptops from the server first. Even then I can only ping for 1 or 2
times before I go back to getting destination host unreachable. Any thoughts
as to why this would happen? All XP machines work fine, firewall is turned
off on laptops and server name resolution appears to be working in that when
I say ping it knows to get 192.168.1.81.

Both systems were added to the domain fine and can browse the domain. I
believe data (sysvol) is coming from backup domain controllers.

Before saying that changes should be made to help this bug, I suggest
waiting a few days for the Service pack 1 download.
Notable Changes in Windows Vista Service Pack 1:

ensuring that all Neighbor Discovery RFC traffic is IPsec exempted.
