XP can't see vista on the Domain

Hello

I have my desktop computer running Vista, my laptop running XP, both are on
the domain, from Vista I can see the laptop and map the drive, from XP I can
not see Vista, not even ping the IP address. However, I can use the Remote
Desktop to connect to Vista using the IP address.

Thanks

Hi,

how about turn off the firewall both in XP and Vista?
ping should work unless it was blocked by firewall.
besides the Vista PC, can you ping other computers and see them in XP?
and in the Network and Sharing Center of Vista, these three policies should
be turn on:
1, Network discovery
2, File sharing
3, Password protected sharing
I turn these on, then in XP I can see it and use the sharing folder.
wish these could help.

Hello Kenneth,

all checked okay as you mentioned,
at home I have same setup, almost, xp laptop and vista computer and they
both are setup same way in the office, and it is working, they both see each
other.
except at home I have workgroup. at work I am on a domain. would that make a
difference?
at work, both machines are on the same segment, with static IPs, the xp
machines can see all other machines but Vista.

Thanks for all you help
