I was considering purchasing a new PC for some time now and I had hoped that
Vista would be far better than Windows XP but alas, I fear I am reliving the
ME days. Having browsed these forums and hearing friends and relatives tell
me of their Vista OS woes has caused me considerable fear. Then throw in
Microsoft's end of life cycle for Windows XP and you have all the elements of
a doomed experience. Forcing me to upgrade to a new and buggy system is
hardly what I would call consumer friendly. Also throw in the fact that, as
for me anyway, I have collected many games and what not that would probably
not even run under Vista at all. So there is more wasted money.
There is hope, simply give users an option to upgrade their service and
support for Windows XP beyond the end of life cycle for a fee, and in the
meantime fix all of the Vista bugs, which in my humble opinion is how it
should be in the first place. As for the people who purchase their computers
with XP installed during this time simply waive the fee for them. Or as the
best case scenario extend the service and support for XP users beyond the
stated time limit. Consumer choice! What a wonderful concept! As for me if I
am to purchase a new system I would demand an XP install or nothing at all.
Final thought on Vista, buyer beware. Lastly, I do not wish to be entirely
negative so I will give a heartfelt thanks to Microsoft for putting out a
tremendously wonderful OS Windows XP.
End 2 cent statement/suggestion.
Phew.
