Vista resetting mouse pointer settings

Every time I reboot, Vista re-sets the mouse pointer speed to medium. Anyone
had such problem? It's nothing terrible, but it's annoying to reset the
speed every time.

I had the same problem using a Microsoft optical trackball. I usually don't
install special drivers, but even using Microsoft's "mouse specific"
Intellimouse didn't help.

I finally put Logitech's trackballs on this system along with Logitech's
latest drivers, and everything returned to normal.

Well, the thing is, I do not use any driver. The Vista's at my notebook, w/
a regular Synaptics driver, and it just resets the speed...
