Vista Product Code - LOST!

M

Mikie

I'm baaaack! I posted a request some time ago about having lost all
documentation, product code, everything ...from my purchase of Vista
Home Basic. Someone nice chap suggested that I get the Product Code
from the Vendor.

My luck, the Vendor doesn't keep id records; (Shocking.com)

So I managed to dig into my Paypal records and I got the sales
receipt with all the detail, price, date, etc.

Question: What's the fastest way to get the Product Code now?a letter
seems to me to be the slowest, but if I have to, I will.

I had to go somewhere else to find the ORIGINAL thread on this to
refresh my memory.

Vendors do NOT keep a record of the product codes. I doubt that they
even KNOW the codes of the discs they sell. And they are NOT about to
reach into a grab bag and pull one out for you.

I think you're just going to have to make up your mind that you
screwed up quite badly on this and that you're now up that proverbial
creek without a paddle.

He has an undamaged disc... he lost the freakin' PRODUCT KEY.

Hey douche bag, did you click on the link once you got to his page?
Probably not because your head was too far up your ass to see that there is
a link called "How to Replace Lost, Broken, or Missing Microsoft Software or
Hardware". Once you get to the Microsoft page, there is a section that
deals with the product key.

Take your head out of your ass and stop being such a dick.

Yup... but obviously didn't read far enough.

You can return to creating more nicks now.

Don't need to right away but when I do, I'm sure you will post the results!
LOL

Don't know who needs that information but you seem to think it's important

Don't need to. I've served my purpose already.

It showed what I suspected: the large number of trolls (judging by the
number of nicks) is actually only a half-dozen people at most. More
accurately: a half-dozen idiots/adolescents at most.

If AIDA32 works in Vista, you could try that. Under the OS section it lists
the 'Product Key' and the 'Product ID'.

I believe the product key is the key you enter when installing.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll be lambasted.

Yeah... he hasn't installed it yet, you idiot.

You know, I usually don't do this but.......FU A**HOLE.

Show me where in this thread that it said it wan't installed.

Go crawl back up the stanky, sh*t filled hole you crawled out of and
don't address me again unless you have something intelligent to say
douchebag......So I guess I'll never be hearing from you again.

A**hole.

You have to be able to remember posters and their penchant for
changing the subject. He said it in his first post\thread on the
14th:

"Family gave me cash for my 81st birthday in August. I bought the
actual Windows VISTA OEM CD from an online vendor. When it arrived,
i opened it out of excitement and had hoped I could install it ASAP!

By the time I got around to it, I had the CD and NOTHING else. I have
NO CLUE as to what happened to the jewel case,"

Very nicely put, Paul.
I myself would have answered somewhere along the line of "Tough sh**"
The CD key is for all intents and purposes the license itself. Lose it,
lose the license, UNLESS it was a Retail license.\
OEM keys are extremely losable. Once you lose one, you lost your license.

For all intents and purposes, you were right.
Microsoft uses the term "Product ID", which is a hashed version of the
25-character CD key/.

The CD key is variously called "the installation key", "the CD key",
"the Product ID" (not correct, BTW) -- all of which refer to the 25
alphanumeric character string one receives when purchasing a Microsoft
OS, and without which one cannot activate his OS. Vista as well as XP
may be installed without such a key, though they will not be able to be
activated without the CD key.
