Product Code

How can one read the Product Code.
Asking because when I enter my Product Code for re-activating (after
some hardware change) it is not accepted (not valid).

Well it is. I have upgraded from XP several months ago.

TIA

I don't understand the question. When entering your product key, just enter
the 25 characters, do not type in the dashes between the characters. If you
have already upgraded from XP, why are you having problems?

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's awfully
easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a "5," or
a "Q" for a "0" or "O." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense to
leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation. Also, be
sure that your <CapsLock> is _off_ while entering the Product Key --
this isn't supposed to make a difference, but I've seen it do so, on
rare occasions.

Are use using the Product ID from the System page (wrong) or are you using the
Product Installation key (correct) from your Vista box label?

I obviously was not clear enough. I meant retrieve the Product Key from
installed Vista. From oobe or the registry.

Your Windows product key is usually available on your Certificate of
Authenticity sticker located on the chassis your machine if your system came
preloaded with Vista, usually at the bottom of a laptop. If your key has
some how become lost or stolen, try RJL's software Windows Product Key
Viewer for product key recovery, supports both Windows Vista x86 and x64:

Hi cqui3,
Exactly what type of hardware change did you do? Could you tell us
the exact hardware you have changed.

A major upgrade such as CPU and Motherboard, will affect the
validation of your vista activation.

Just repeating what everyone else has said here, are you entering in
the key code correctly.
