Vista PC Freezes

I purchased a new PC with Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I had the usual
problems installing applications and devices (no Vista compatible drivers
etc.). I keep running Windows Update to ensure I have the latest patches etc,
but my main issue is with the PC freezing without knowing why. The PC froze a
couple of times in the first few days but I assumed this was due to the poor
performance of the on-board graphics, so I installed an ATI Radion AGP 256mb
card, which improved boot up etc. but I still get a system freeze when
initiating certain applications e.g. games, sometimes when opening IE7,
sometimes when running a scan with Norton 2007. The system freezes, I can't
access with ctrl/alt/del, the HD light freezes in whatever state it was in
(access or not), It is really frustrating - any idea's?
Thanks!

I'm having the same problem with my new Dell PC with Vista Ultimate
installed. PC keeps freezing for about 30 seconds every 10 minutes or so. I
have removed most of the software that came with PC (all Vista compatible) Am
wondering whether there are problems with drivers for Nvidea GeForce 7900GS
graphics card drivers. Had lots of problems with old Nvidea card on my old
PC with XP SP2.
