Vista freezes

Recently, Vista has begun freezing for no apparent reason. Have to
unplug/plug the PC to get it to reboot.
It will freeze during use. It will freeze when not in use and in Sleep
mode (the screen is black).
TO my knowledge, the only change I have made was 2-3 days before this
began - removed some folders from File Indexing, including one backup drive.
Can't find any troubleshooting steps on the net. Guidance please.

Probably something wrong wit your computer. Ram maybe. CPU fan stopped
working. Things heating up. Open her up and suck out all the dust bunnies.
Get a ram checker.

This is normal for Vista. You need to reinstall it and, in a few months,
it will happen again. If you want an operating system that just works,
check out Ubuntu, a free Linux desktop operating system. You can check
it out at http://www.ubuntu.com/ A new version comes out Thursday.

Ignore the MS fanbois that will now spew lies and insults all over the
place.

Pls see if 'Windows Vista Freezes Frequently'
(http://www.winvistaclub.com/t9.html) helps you.
Thanks for all replies.
Already did the spyware/antivirus.
I keep up to date on all Vista updates.
I will try the others when I can.
Since this freezing seems to occur 2twice a day to every other day, it
may be a while before I know if any/all of this wroks.

What a piece of shit you are. You offer no help but suggest another OS that
won't do any real work, will frustrate anyone who wants to get real work
done.

Ubuntu is FREE and NOBODY wants it. Ubuntu is designed by geeks for free
because they can't get paid for their crummy work. People sometimes
download Ubuntu and install it. Once they get Ubuntu running, they remove
Ubuntu within hours and toss the CD far far away.

So, hot shot, what's YOUR advice for the OP? None? Thought so.

Did you System Restore to, say, a week earlier to see if the behavior
changes?
