Installed Vista over XP to avoid reinstalling all of my software

Computer sound was fine before installing Vista

Now no sound and keep getting message in Media Center "Error Code
C00D11BA

Checked for driver updates on Sound Card Sigma Tel High Definition
Audio CODEC--- results---"Drivers are up to date"

Checked Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound/Manage Audio Devices
--- results--- "No audio devices installed"

Search help and all of the internet sites I could find. No help.

What can I try now?

I had a problem with sound in Vista as well, went to my laptop manufacturer
site Sony and there was indeed a driver and software available for
vista......... go to your computer manufacturer or soundcard manufacturer
site directly for a vista driver. My sound device is exactly as yours,
Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC.

Thanks for the reply. I went to Gateway, found the driver update, and
installed it.

Did not fix my problem.

I've now checked so many different things with none working, I am
about to give up.

I'm not sure how to explain this but I also had to go to my Sounds icon in
Control Panel and play around in there with Speakers/Headphones vs. Digital
Outpout Device, changing default, etc. I apologize that I cannot give you a
pattern to the changes I made there. My original default setting there is
now gone because I replaced it with another choice so I cannot say what it
was but try changing the default if there is a choice there. The way I saw
it, it wasn't working so anything I did would only work or not work anyway.

All MS OS's are best installed totally fresh, NOT as an upgrade to your
existing OS.
