No audio files found, I have no sound, I need help

I just installed Vista and there is no sound on my computer. No start up no
nothing.
I currently have Sigma Tel Audio installed and all updates have been made
but it does not seem to work or Vista does not recognize it. What should I
do? Uninstall and install a new one? If so, what is compatible and will it
cost?

Thanks

Have you checked in Device Manager to see if Vista recognises it and/or if
it is installed correctly?
If all else fails I bought a cheap sound card (AU $25), compatible with
Vista, "Cobra AW840 PCI", by www.aopen.com

Thanks Mick, and I did check the Device Manager and it recognizes Sigma Tel
Audio and says it is working properly, but it evidently does not identify it
as a audio driver. I am hoping I can resolve it before I purchase something.

Cha-Ching! Hear the cash register ring!

$25 ??? You did not spend enough money. Go buy a new computer, it will be
cheaper. The really intellegent thing to do is reinstall your old operating
system. Everything worked didn't it? Why did you change anyway? Vista offers
nothing new to the user. Only retailers benefit buy selling you more stuff.

Did you go to Control Panel > Sound and see if your speakers are set as
your default sound output device. Do you even have speakers? Are they
turned on and plugged in correctly?
