Vista newsgroup BAF files in Recycle Bin

My XP Recycle Bin has 27 BAK files from Outlook Express up to 12mb each and
was wondering why they are there. I think it might be done after Outlook
Express does an automatc compress to save space but this is the first time I
seen the files in my Recycle Bin. I dual boot XP and Vista RC2. Here is a
screenshot of my desktop showing the files.

Strange,
I have noticed this recently also.
Every time I compact files in OE (XP Pro) BAK files are created
in the Recycle Bin.
Only started about two weeks or so ago.
I made no changes to OE, and can't even find an option to create
backup files when compacting.
I am triple booting XP Pro x32, Vista x32 RC2 and Vista x64 RC2.
Wonder what happened?

Its is due to a new update for OE. It has nothing to do with Vista.

See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 Those are backups of the OE folders that
are saved to the bin prior to compaction so if compaction fails, you don't
lose your messages as many have.

The same thing happens in XP Pro x64. Maybe a recent Update for OE in XP 32
bit now makes it do the same thing.

Thank you very much.

I compact the folders daily and this has been driving me nuts
trying to figure out what I had done

Joe,

I'm wondering if it's related to a recent OE patch. Last week, my OE did its
automatic compression of files, and afterwards I noticed all the original
*.DBX file, now renamed to *.BAK in my Recycle bin. That never happened
before.
