Vista Home Premium & ipod/iTunes

This may be inappropriate for this forum but my brand new gateway laptop came
preinstalled with Vista home premium and I need to move some files from my
old pc to this one. it's mainly word/ppt/and excel files for work/college and
my iTunes music. I've only read bad things about using iTunes/iPod wit Vista
and I cannot afford to lose anything or have anything go awry since it'd cost
me my job. As you might be able to tell, I'm really paranoid about this and
was hoping I'd find answers here.
Thank you.

Drive Imaging can help reduce anxiety about data loss. A program like
Acronis True Image Home ( Ver 10.0 ) can help to preserve data and
a System state ( For recovery ). You should make a System Image for
both your older PC and the new one on a regular basis.
If you existing PC has an Optical burner, you should be able to burn the
My Documents folder and iTunes and transfer to the new Vista PC. You
can also get an "Easy Transfer Kit" that has a USB-to-USB cable (Belkin).
Believe it's available at most PC stores ( CompUSA, Best Buy ) for ~$29.

iTunes ( 7.0.2 ) does have some acknowledged issues running under
Vista. However, I'm using it and haven't run into any issues ( so far ).
If you image both PCs there is little chance of data loss and if the iTunes
software doesn't work as expected you can recover the PC to an earlier
state.

Thanks for the advice about the kits! However, I have no experience with
making a "system image" or where to get the program. Is that available on the
microsoft website? How do I use it? Also, my method of backup has been to
email myself a copy of everything important but I do have a USB flash drive.
I'm trying to avoid spending money since I don't have any! haha. Did you have
to reconfigure you're ipod at all?
