Vista can't run MSC files

When I try to run Services.msc I get an error dialog box saying Windows
cannot open this file: services.msc. Same thing when I click on the
Manage option from My Computer.

I couldn't find anything in the MS Knowledge Base about this. Any ideas
where to look for a solution?

Yes, my entire system seems to be OK. services.msc is in the System32
folder. But I just noticed it has a blank page as an icon. I think
this means Vista has lost track of the correct file association for .msc
files. If I knew what it was I'd try putting it back. I bet this would
solve the problem.

Control Panel => Programs => Make a file type always open in specific
program

Set it to "Microsoft Management Console".

Yes - here's a general fix for that kind of problem:

The problem was my system lost the association for .msc files. Here's a
page where I got the registry tweaks to fix that:

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

The one for .msc files worked like a charm.

I'm betting a registry cleaner deleted the necessary keys.

Oh well.
