ACER + Vista

Guest

I am Using Windows Vista. I was having no trouble with the OS. I have
installed Norton and i was not able to do anything.
I am not able to open any the .msc applications (services.msc, devmgmt.msc,
eventvwr.msc, System Properties, defrag.msc, diskmgmt.msc, User Accounts +
Lost Permissions) getting the error message "cannot find file mmc.exe"

I have installed msxml 6.0 and nothing happens.

I will be able to open these application by opening MMC Console in System 32
folder and by creating the snapins, but I tried to save the console and got
the error message "Cannot Save Console"

I am not even able to activate the Norton Product and the Norton Activation
window is greyed out.

Please help me?

The retail version of Norton can play havoc with your pc. Uninstall it by
using Norton's own uninstall tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
and get a refund :)

Better AV apps. alternatives are:

Avira AntiVir® PersonalEdition Classic - FREE :)
http://www.free-av.com/antivirus/allinonen.html

Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 7.0 - Not Free :(
http://www.kaspersky.com/homeuser

ESET NOD32 Antivirus - Not Free :(
http://www.eset.com/

Good luck :)

Not Me

I won't allow Norton/Symantec anywhere near my machines anymore.
Uninstall Norton and use their cleanup tool (check their website).
I use AVG free version for AV. It works fine with Vista.

Avast - Free http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Is building a good reputation with respect to Vista.
Also
AVG - Free http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/

Many Windows Mail problems disappear when Norton or McAfee
are dumped in favour of Avast or AVG.
