Task Scheduler service not running?

For some reason I cannot open Task Scheduler. When I try to open it says
"Task Scheduler service not running. Verify that the service is running." It
services.msc it says that it is "started". I would stop and restart it but
the options are greyed out. Get an error messenge where I try to stop it via
Task Manager services tab. Any ideas how to fix this?

Also, when I go into the MMC (mmc.exe) there are no things listed. I thought
I remember a couple days ago seeing tons of snap-in things here. What is
wrong!!!??

Hi James,

If you are running mmc.exe you will need to add the snap-ins. Click on the
"File" menu and select "Add/Remove Snap-in". Task Scheduler is one of the
snap-in available.

To start the Task Scheduler service, type:

net start "task scheduler"

Note: you will need to run the cmd.exe under Administrator. UAC is on by
default in Vista.

I beleive the "MMC" you saw with all the snap-ins is the "Computer
Managment" snap-in. You can access this by executing: compmgmt.msc.

Thanks,
Jonathan
