Viruses messed up my computer, need help? Please!

The virus scan I just did showed 17 different viruses. I deleted them but I
need to restore some of the programs on Windows XP. I can not find my boot
up disk. Please help if you know what to do? My computer comes on and goes
to a screensaver screen, but no icons or startup toolbar are on the screen.
I can only access files by hitting CTL/ALT/Delete and running programs
through there. My sound is not working right either. I can hear video's,
but nothing else. Please help?

You are running an Anti-virus app and still found 17 viruses?
What anti-virus app do you use and also is your firewall activated?
In addition, do you have SP2 installed?
