Virus

I seem to have a virus or worm on my system. Every now and then a hi-pitch
squeel occurs or maybe a few bars of music.

Of course, I have no idea what else it is doing.

It appears to not harm me, but I'm afraid it will some day. Norton doesn't
find it.

Any suggestions as to how to get rid of it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Take some advice, back up your hard drive immediately. If
your hearing squealing, that usually means that drive
heads on the hard drive are coming in contact with the
platters. Your data is about to head south for the
winter. Back up soon. If your hearing music (not the
normal kind) that means a hardware problem is developing.
I know that's not much help, but without knowing the type
of computer you have, it's hard to isolate something like
this. Good luck.

A squeal and a few bars of music don't seem to go together. Are
these both coming out of your speakers, rather than the computer
case? Is it always the same tune?

If so, try this: go to Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices,
and on the Sounds tab scroll through all the Program Events,
playing the sound associated with each. You may be able to find
the sounds in question and identify the program playing them.

Thanks for the advice, but this is noise thru my speakers like feedback when
a microphone is too close to a speaker and the music is real music.

Both noises are thru the speakers. The squeel had occurred several times,
but the music has occurred only once and I don't recall how it sounded.

Thanx for your suggestions though.
