Virus - Trojan Horse Backdoor.VB.11.BC

R

Rob

AVG Resident Shield (anti virus program) on my wife's computer has
identified a virus called:

"Trojan Horse Backdoor.VB.11.BC."

The error message is "Virus Trojan Horse Backdoor.VB.11.BC is found in file
C:\System Volume Information\Restore {E41A2A5F-C2D5-466D-B851- 5166A00E89CA}
\RP80\A0024021.EXE.

We have successfully removed the virus repeatedly with several anti virus
programs. In a very short time the virus has returned. Can someone please
help us out with a cure for this?

Many thanks in advance, Rob

It's stored in your system restore file. You'll need to clear your restore
points to get rid of it.
Right click my computer, properties, system restore, check the box to turn
off system restore, then reboot. Then go back in and turn it back on. The
virus will now be gone.

1. Update your virus definitions.

2. Enable Show Hidden Files
(http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2002092715262339)

3. Boot into Safe Mode
(http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406)
and run a full system scan with your anti-virus app (nothing else running).
Delete all infections found, if any.

4. Boot back into Windows.

a. create a new Restore Point

b. Disk Cleanup > More Options > Delete all but the most recent Restore
Point
