The issue is that Windows XP uses a portion of your hard disk a virtual
extension to installed memory (RAM). If your hard disk is full or close to
it, you'll run into these messages. Clearing up disk space is option 1, but
other techniques like making the virtual memory file (known as a page file)
smaller is another possibility. Everything is outlined clearly here:

Hi Thomas,

Do you have Intel Application Accelerator installed? If so, you need to
uninstall it and install the latest version. The older ones are incompatible
with WinXP and can cause this error message.

If not, then try this: Go to System properties/advanced/performance
settings/advanced tab/virtual memory change and disable the swap file.
Reboot. Delete all instances of pagefile.sys from all drives should any
exist, then reverse the original steps and reenable the swap file. Reboot
once more to finish. See if this helps,

Hi,
I have a message that comes on every other day the message reads "Low
on Virtual Memory"

This usually means you should purchase some more RAM. However it is
easy to increase Virtual Memory.

For XP - Right Click My Computer - Properties -Advanced Tab -
Performance Settings Button - Advanced Tab - Click "Change" under
Virtual Memory. Click "Custom Size" Increase the size and make sure
the Min and the Max are the SAME to reduce any pagefile fragmentation.
Pagefiles are usually 1.5 times the physical RAM however, I would
make it at least 2x. Click the "SET" button. Restart the machine.

Cheers,

Lara
