Virtual CD program

At http://www.virtual-cd.com/main.html there is a commercial program to
make virtual CDs/DVDs of your discs, thereby saving wear and tear on the
actual disc.
Is there a freeware app that does the same, but will work with Windows
XP *and* allow you to make copies of your DVDs? I tried Virtual CD to
copy one of my DVDs but it didn't work.

Having a virtual copy saves the DVD hardware from having to continually
read the disc.

Daemon tools will create virtual DVD driver from images, DVD Decrypter can
copy DVDs to hdd

I don't know about the DVD aspect of it, but I use Daemon Tools all teh
time for Virtual CDs.
