I've got two computers with IPs 169.245.219.1 and .3, respectively.
Number three is a Linux with Apache running. Whenever I try sending a
request from number one (MSIE6, WinXP Pro) to number three, the system
prompts me to go "online". The problem is I don't want to estabilis a
connection with my ISP since I only have a dial-up connection. If I let the
computer dial the ISP's number, though, it connects to the other computer on
the local net successfully.
Any ideas how to convince the computer it doesn't need to estabilish a
internet connection in order to send a request through intranet? Maybe a
special setting with which I could help it distinguish between internal and
global IPs?
