Dear Group,
I posted early this am to an older thread -- and think the post may
have fallen through a black hole... If it shows up sorry for the
redundance.
I have been using IE7 for about 2 months. My operating system is
Windows XP, Service Pack 2. I do web design... and several days ago I
lost the ability to "View Soruce" of HTML (which is a big problem for
me).
Detail: I noticed shortly after Windows auto-installed Security
Updates for IE7 (about 10 updates) that I had this problem. SO, I did
a System Restore back a few days, and I was able to View Source...
that is until my Auto Update ran and re-installed them. I have also
noticed that my Internet Tools... Delete Temp Files, Internet History,
etc. do not work.
I read in an older post that accumulation of Temp Files can create the
View Source problem. When I used System Restore, I was able to delete
a large cache. But currently I'm not exactly sure where these files
are via Windows Explorer - to safely delete manually.
The Error Message I receive when I try to View Source of a Web page
is:
"Windows cannot access the specified path or file. You may not have
the appropriate permissions to access the item"
This is looking for Notepad.exe... (this program functions fine on its
own). I also read about a possible conflict of the shortcut residing
on the desktop... which had no factor in my case.
Do you have any insight or advice for how I may get "View Source" to
work again, as well as Delete IE History/Temp files to work properly.
Thanks for any assistance
Kathy
