View has gone funny

I opened a document from someone else and it has caused my "view", my "look and feel" of Word to go funny. My tool bars are all white, so is the document viewing area... items in menu lists that were greyed out, now you can barely read -- it's like they are dots or something... it almost looks like it's a negative (everything switched).

I thought it was the doc I opened, but now everything is opened like that I can't figure out how to switch it back!!!

Please help! It's a terrible view to have to use!!!

Click the "View" menu and select "Print Layout (or Page Layout in Word 97).
Did this fix your "view" problem? Word remembers the view that it had the
last time it was opened and when closed will return to this view. This is
usually caused by a document you receive from someone who happens to like
the "Normal" layout view, or "Outline" view. All you have to do is to set
it back to Print layout, close Word, and it too will now be remembered.

Try it and get back with us.

No, it's not the view -- Print layout is fine and the view I mostly work in. My issue is more the look and feel of the entire Word window. The toolbar buttons are not longer that pale yellow color -- they are white. The document window is no longer two tone -- it's white -- the tool bars across the bottom are white and all the drop down menus are white. When an option is "greyed out" on a menu, it is little dots almost... This all happened when I opened a doc from someone else... and I can't get out of it. Any ideas?
