videos within webpages

Whenever a video wants to play within a webpage, whether
its windows media, quicktime, or realplayer, I get this
message "An error occurred inside a plug-in contained on
this page." Sometimes it will close all my open IE windows
ater failing to show me the video.

Sounds like it's not the media player, but perhaps an installed application, like Flash.
Look in Windows\Downloaded Program Files. Changing the view to details or checking properties will say if you have problems with the file.
