Video Game crashes

And I'm having troubles trying to get to the folder where I put the BIOS
files, like it said. I made a DOS boot disk and when I get to the prompt, I
can't get into my C:\ drive...

Shoot I can't do too much if they have the wrong specs on their site. I
don't know why your C: drive is missing because the generic IDE driver
should work to access the hard drive.

If you're drive is formatted with NTFS the DOS disk won't be able to read
the file system on it. You need to copy the BIOS files to your floppy disk
and run the update from the floppy disk.

Here's the firmware for your optical drives:

I could not find the BIOS for your system on HP's site. Here's another
site
on the Internet:

I flashed my BIOS and it worked and stuff, but it didn't improve anything,
games still crash. I'll try the video card thing later probably.

hi there.
after a long time of not playing i wanted to play today command&conquer zero
hour. but after clicking on the play now button an error message appears
saying "technical difficulties: you have encountered a serious error..". a
little bit confusing because i remember that i played this game on this
system, only difference are some windows updates.
all other games are running fine (battlefield1942, battlefieldvietnam,
counterstrike, warcraft3, needforspeed, fifa...) just c&c won´t start!

my system: win2000 sp4 (Page File: 202MB used, 1746MB available)
p4 3ghz on an asus p4p800 with 1 gb ram
my graphiccard is an ati 9800 xt with 256mb memory

your help is greatly appreciated :)

OK just a little update, most crashes I get now are system reboots. Only NWN
gets the error, "performed illegal operation..." I played Rise of Nations for
about 2 hours (I was very very excited) but it rebooted. So now, if there's
any troubleshooting specifically for reboots then this should work...

Your system is most likely restarting as a result of a STOP error.

To stop this behavior go to Control Panel / System / Advanced /
Click the Startup and Recovery Settings button / Uncheck the box
labeled "Automatically restart" under the System Failure section.

To analyze the error, try the steps in: http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

If the error indicates a file name that begins with ati, or nv (nVidia)
the most likely solution would be to install the latest drivers using
the instructions at: http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/Video.html#drivers

And installing the drivers didn't work, I tried it three times, kept giving
me a "Parameters are incorrect" error...

So I restored my computer to an earlier point, where I had originally
installed the latest drivers.
