Recently I installed the game Star Wars: Galaxies on my 1.5 ghz machine, and an ATI Radeon 9200SE video card to play it with. Within a week, Windows refused to start because the windows\system32\config\system file was corrupt or missing. I reinstalled windows, the video card driver, and the game, as well as Norton Antivirus 2003, along with the most recent updates for all of them. I did not install anything else. i did scans with norton and checkdisk and found no problems
now, less than a week later after that, and some odd bugs discovered with the game involved with quitting out of it, windows had the same system file problem when i powered it up. i checked with the microsoft knowledge base and followed directions for copying the backup system file from the windows/repair folder. i rebooted, windows began loading, then went to a blank screen when the blue welcome screen pops up, and then rebooted again. so it's stuck in a loop
i have a feeling the issue is compatibility with the game or card. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
