star wars: galaxies compatibility issues?

Recently I installed the game Star Wars: Galaxies on my 1.5 ghz
machine, and an ATI Radeon 9200SE video card to play it with. Within
a week, Windows refused to start because the
windows\system32\config\system file was corrupt or missing. I
reinstalled windows, the video card driver, and the game, as well as
Norton Antivirus 2003, along with the most recent updates for all of
them. I did not install anything else. i did scans with norton and
checkdisk and found no problems.

now, less than a week later after that, and some odd bugs discovered
with the game involved with quitting out of it, windows had the same
system file problem when i powered it up. i checked with the microsoft
knowledge base and followed directions for copying the backup system
file from the windows/repair folder. i rebooted, windows began
loading, then went to a blank screen when the blue welcome screen
pops up, and then rebooted again. so it's stuck in a loop.

i have a feeling the issue is compatibility with the game or card. any
ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kevmo,

Repair Windows, do NOT reinstall Norton's nor the game, and use the
system for a week, if the error disappears, reinstall Norton's and test your
system again for another week. Use their online scanner in the meantime:

How to Repair Windows:
Unplug from your Internet connection, and then repair Windows:
using this method: http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Afterwards, boot up your system, turn on your XP Internet Firewall,
plug back into your Internet connection and install all Critical and
