Video capture results in too fast replay & records noise back to t

When I capture video the result is very fast play. I have turned off the
filters in Movie Maker but didn't correct. I also tried to capture in
different modes. What's really strange is when I repeat this process a few
times my original Hi 8 tape ends up with background noise. I thought tape
may have been bad so I tried another tape and ended up with same result. I
have a Toshiba Qosmio (Centrino) and a Sony Digital 8 HandyCam. Any help I
can get would be greatly appreciated. My son just performed his first show
(Rock band) and I wanted to post clips. My only result is fast (probably
double speed or so) and now my original tape has noise on it and when I
capture it records with noise. BTW, anyway of getting noise off of original
tape. Not sure how capturing video could send info back to camera and
corrupt sound.

Capturing video will not do that to your tape. I suspect it is either that
the heads on one of the cameras is not quite in line, so the D8 cam will not
play the Hi8 tape properly, or the D8 cam is not Hi8 compatible.
