Video Capture Hardware for VHS to Movie Maker

What hardware (cables, etc) can I use to run from a 4 head VCR to a USB port
on my VAIO desktop computer? All I have in the back of the VCR player are
the standard video/audio jacks (red, yellow, white) and a coax cable out
jack. I'm trying to make DVDs from old VHS tapes.

Can you capture from analogue video straight into a USB? In my experience you
need a proper video capture card in your PC. This will have video inputs
(phono/RCA) as well as SVHS and so on, ie standard video cables sockets. The
audio you can plug straight in to your "line in" jmini-jack socket if
necessary.
I'd be interested to know if you can plug video straight into a USB.

Your's is an excellent suggestion. I will look into installing a video card
with the jacks you cited. Thanks. I'll let you know about using a USB input
as well when I talk with my computer repair shop.
