vhs to dvd

Hi, I hope someone can help..not very tech savvy! I would like to transfer
some video tapes using vcr to my laptop and then onto dvd. i know I can use
windows movie maker to import the video..please correct me if i'm wrong...but
what would be the best cable to connect the vcr and laptop? i have 3 port on
my vcr, yellow, red and white and also s-video with a 4 pin and a vga port on
my laptop. running windows vista on sony vaio. many thanks for any help in
advance..

If you just want copies of the VHS tapes...
the following method worked flawlessly
for me...

I recently used the following VHS DVD
Recorder to copy some old family VHS
tapes and it was very simple. I just insert
the tape and cue it up to the point where
the recording should begin.....insert a DVD
blank and press the DUB button. That's it...
very simple.
