Why I transfer videos taken from my Sony DVD video camera they are in mpg
format and run fine on real player or windows media player.
When i load them into movie maker to split and combine them, the video is
working fine but there is no audio sound track and so the final wmv that i
save has no audio at all - what do i need to do to make the audio work?

Sorry but this doesn't help, I'm not trying to import the file from a disc as
I have already transfered the movie from the Sony camcorder disc to my PC
using Picture Package.
I need help in importing a .mpg file into Movie Maker

Whether the file is on a disc/hard drive or sd card, if it's an mpeg2 the
way to do it is the same route.
Often mpegs don't work with MM and give audio and no video, so with you
getting video and no audio it's a little different. I expect your cam
records in ac3 audio and you don't have an ac3 audio decoder installed on
your pc. buying one may make it work, but be aware mpegs do not work well
in MM if at all, so it's still best to follow PJ's advice and convert.
