no video with .mpg files

Movie Maker 2.1 won't show the video component the .mpg files I got from a
video camera (it's a Sondy DVD Handycam, model DCR-DVD 201, if that helps).
Whenever I drag them onto the timeline they go into the audio section, and
whenever I try to play them (whether they're on the timeline or not) no video
shows up. When I play them in Windows Media Player, the video does show up.
