The last time I changed video cards I unistalled the drivers under Control Panel/add&remove.
Then under Device manager uninstalled the video card.
Shut the computer down.........unplugged it from the wall....opened the case.
Removed old card..........installed new card..........restarted and let XP detect new card and install generic drivers.
Then I installed the proper drivers and double checked the monitor >INF file to make sure it still matched my monitor.
