i recently updated my video adapter and changed it from it's default (Trident 2d/3d Video Accelerator Blade - ProMedia from installation of xp pro) to the adapter which seemed to coincide with the mainboard (Via 86xx). i updated using the cd-rom for the mainboard installation, but when i restarted my pc the following occured
* POST - o
* Welcome to Windows XP Pro screen - o
* instead of loading the desktop, the screen just goes blank at this point...i can hear the system finishing the startup process, however, the screen remains blank

Is there any way i can change the video adapter back at the BIOS setup screen? Can i do anything from a DOS prompt? My cd-rom is not a boot disk, but i can make a floppy boot disk if i need to from another computer

PLEASE HELP ME!!

Have you tried safe mode? Restart the machine, and during start-up press f8.
Choose safe mode from the menu. It should load in 640*480 using the default
vga driver. From there you can uninstall/reinstall your video drivers.
