i have a user who has great difficulty viewing/opening directories on a
shared drive. he clicks on a directory and it may take up to 30 seconds just
to select it. there appears to be a correlation between the size of the
directory and the amount of time it takes. the larger the directory, the
longer it takes for him to select it or view its contents.
running xp sp2 on windows 2k3.
here's why i think this is an xp issue and not a network os issue:
- no one else in the organization is experiencing this issue, accessing the
same shares
- i can log into another machine using his roaming profile and there are no
issues
it sounds like some sort of indexing issue, though every time i select a
large directory there is a delay.
oh, and i've also tried changing the data port to which he's connected.
same slow results.
thoughts anyone?
thank you. - ross
