very dark dv capture

I'm using Canon Elura (original) DV to capture footage. A strange thing happens with MM2, the video is very dark. Not just "your lcd monitor varies from ntsc video dark" but very dark.

What's strange is the thumbnail preview of the clip in MM2 is the correct brightness. AND when I drag it to the timeline, the clip plays at the correct brightness. When I play it from My Docments in Media Player it plays fine, UNTIL I shut MM2 and then it plays dark... (I also tried capture in Adobe Premiere and a similar thing happens).

Is it MM2 or the DV video driver?

Never mind. reinstalled video drivers and dx9 and it magically corrected itself.
