Help! - DV-AVI Slow In Moviemaker

R

Rob Pugh

Help!
I have captured video via my digital camera through windv and Moviemaker to
DV-AVI type I.
When I play back the video is fine in MM2.1 and in Windows Media Player,
however when I drag it to the timeline in MM2 the audio slows down
dramatically and seems to reduce in pitch.
My type II files are unaffected?

TIA
Rob

If I convert to Type II its works ok!!!
So my process is
1. Create clip with MM2 (save to DV-AVI Type I)
2. Convert form Type 1 to Type II
3. Process type II in MM2

Seems a bit convoluted?

WinDV gives you the choice of capturing as type I or II.... and MM1 captures
as type II.

either one would save you a step.

Thanks for your assistance Papajohn.
BTW I found the problem........I turned off an AC3 sound codec and
everything is fine.
I know...always check the codecs first....doh!

Interesting find Rob... what codec is it? Maybe I should add you experience
to the page of codec problems on my website.

Hi, Rob.

What codec is that? How can I turn it off? I have similar problem.
Please help. Thanks.

In MM2: tools>options [compatibility tab].
I turned off the non standard filters and turned them back on until one at a
time until I found the one causing the problem.

You can turn codecs on one at a time without restarting MM2, but if you want
to disable a codec you need to uncheck the box and restart mm2 (or it looked
that way when I was testing the codecs)
My problem was an AC3 filter I downloaded for other purposes

Happy searching.
