I've tried re-install but still same problem....anyone

Hello Scooby

Empty your temporary files AND your Temporary Internet
Files C:\Documents
and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files folder ;

Please reboot into safe mode logged in as administrator
and run a full AntiSpyware scan
(open Microsoft AntiSpyware, on the scan page choose Scan
options > Full System Scan (check the boxes below) >
click "Run Scan Now" ) scan with the latest signatures to
see if that helps.

Hi,

Tried below suggestion as written, still no joy. Running
the scan logged on in safe mode the spyware hangs when:

- scanning for hidden files :

variable scan of wininit.ini

Dont want to go off on a tangent but some background
info....I recently had to do a system restore. The spyware
was originally installed on a local user account thats now
redundant.

I uninstalled all files relating to the original setup
both as local and admin profiles, then re-installed latest
version.

This was post XP2 installation. During config of Windows
Firewall I have made exception rules for :

1. MicrosoftAntiSpywareMain.exe (the primary Microsoft
AntiSpyware application)

PATH C:\Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware\GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe

2. gcasDtServ.exe (provides access to SpyNet for reporting
unknown applications)

PATH C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe

3. MicrosoftAntiSpywareUpdater.exe (provides functionality
to update the latest spyware definitions)

NO SUCH FILE NAME EXISTS IN THE FOLDER, ONLY THESE 2 AS
BELOW:

GIANTAntiSpywareUpdater.exe
gcasSWUpdater.exe

WHICH ONE SHOULD BE CORRECT?

4. gcasServAlert.exe (provides access to SpyNet for
reporting unknown applications)

PATH C:\Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware\gcasServAlert.exe

Dont know if above shines any light on this event....I
have that clammy cold rolling gut feeling that Ive messed
around somewhere I should not have.....
