validation require

i am having problems with word and other windows update. when i trying to
update beta or any other softeware, i keep getting this "validation require"
i am not understanding i brought from best buy. and also have been updating
some of the updates, but this time i can not update because it keep taking me
to this window say that "valdation require" what is it miss a product number
from the box or what. and if it is how can i input that number into my
computer

Pamela - this process is a pain, but it should be a one-time pain.There
should be a sticker with the product key required stuck to the outside of
your computer. If it is a laptop, it will be on the bottom. On a desktop,
it may be on the sides or on the back, or occasionally on the front. Find
that sticker, write the number down carefully, and type it in when asked for
it.

Machines like yours don't require the "activation" process because the
Operating System is tied to the machine by a hardware key in the bios.
However, since they haven't been Activated, this one-time validation process
is now required to get your product ID validated.

The validation process happens with each download, but the process of
putting the key in should happen just once--best to find it, get it in there,
and then you won't have to worry about it again.
