Using Remote Control from AD Users and Computers

Hello, at an old job where there were win 2K servers and NT workstations, we
used the remote control add-in to AD that allowed us to join a desktop
session in shadow mode. That is, we shared the same session with the user and
could control the keyboard and the mouse.

I am at a new job, and have set up Win 2008, and have XP SP3 workstations.
AD now has the Remote Control option already there. I have followed the
instructions in KB840634 to configure windows firewall to allow remote
administration tools using group policy.

I can connect to a workstation using "manage", but when I try to use "Remote
Control" nothing happens. No error message, nothing.

So, I have two questions. First, can we still use remote control to create a
shadow session? And if so, what other steps do I need to take to make it
happen?

Thank you for any assistance!

To run remote control in AD, you need to copy rcontrol.exe to each
workstation; enable RDC; install RDC software on the computer if it is
windows 9x/NT/2000. However, if you have XP pro, should run RDC instead of
rcontrol.
