When providing remote assistance how do I gain access to
the remote PC? Cannot find where to allow remote control
during the session, is it in the invitation? The remote
PC has remote control allowed in control panel.

Yes, Remote Assistance (in general) works on the "Invitation" scheme. The invitation can be extended
either via Messenger, Email or a File transfer and both the Expert and Novice *MUST* be running XP
Pro or XP Home.

If your in a domain environment or trusted domain environment, you can "Offer" Remote Assistance...
Look at these KB articles for help with that...

On a private LAN you might try the "File" method to provide RA to users...

In *ALL CASES* the Novice *MUST* provide a positive acknowledgement in order for the Expert to both
view the Novice desktop and to take control...

Bert ... after the remote screen displays on your computer, you should see a
button in the upper left hand corner which says 'Take Control'. Just click
on that and the recipient will receive an 'Acceptance Yes/No' screen. That
should do it ...
