Using headphones

B

Bobby

I want to use headphones on my PC (for Skype) but I don't know how to
connect them without disconnecting the speakers. Is this possible? Or do I
have to take out the speaker lead each time I want to plug in headphones?

Cheers.

Check with your speakers. Some come with a headphone jack. If yours do not
have one, you can buy a switch which will allow to change between the
speakers and headphones. Plantronics made a unit that does this however you
can find more affordable ones.

Go to an electronics shop and get a gizmo so you can plug them both in at
the same time. Or get speakers that have a jack.

Don't you have any headphoneoutlet on your speakers?
If not, then I'm sure that you will have to connect your headphones directly
to the soundcard.

It probably depends on your sound card, but most of them have a
headphone jack as well as a speaker jack.

Some PC's have a separate headphone connection in the front. A USB VoiP
Phone does the job for me.

Go to Radio Shack and buy an audio splitter plug. Take your existing plug
with you so you get the right size. Plug the splitter into your computer.
Then plug your computer speakers into one split outlet and your headset into
the other split outlet.
