I am contemplating purchasing a Samsung all in one pc and it has a 3.5mm
jack which is marked for headphones and wanted to know if this could be used
for loud speakers.?
When I asked Curry's I was told that it would but I don't trust their view
Can someone help me please.

Yes. It can go to external, powered, set of speakers. I do it all the
time.

And powered speakers are the same thing as amplified speakers.
They have an amplifier board inside the speaker.

This is what I'm still using (my home entertainment amp
broke, so this is all I've got left). The ACS21W. A classic.

Being a computer amplified speaker package, it even has the
correct lime-green colored male plug on the cable.
For that color-coordinated PC :) Lime-green is the color
of Line-Out jack, but the plug can also be used in a
headphone jack.

Why would you ask a question if you don't trust the source?

Gee, it's easy enough to try it! Try it and find out. Not exactly rocket
science.
