Using Access databases over ths internet

I have an Access database with many reports, search screens etc. I want to
make it available over the internet, which I can do by having qualified users
initiate a remote desktop service into my server. Some users object that
remote desktop is not secure. Is there a more secure way that allows the user
to manipulate the access database over the internet as though it were on
their own machine?
 
secure is a relative term, remote desktop is just as secure as those web
pages with the yellow padlock we do business on. If they want more secure,
you have to do it over a VPN connection.
