User Switching Issues

Bryan W.

I was not sure how to search for other threads with this type of issue so I
will explain what problem I have and if this has been answered before I would
greatly appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

When one user is logged on to Windows (Home SP2), we cannot log on to
another user. The Fast User Switching service is started and running, however
once we click on another username on the logon screen, it just flashes and
returns to the log on screen. We can access the user that is already logged
on, but cannot log in to anyone else's system.

This is a computer in the office of our store, and the multiple user
accounts are practically essential to managing the store, so we would like to
be able to log on to multiple users without having to log off. Thanks in
advance.

One thought, you can't have more than one user logged on at a time.
you have to log off one before you can log on another. otherwise the user
files would get messed up.

Fast user switching enables users to stay logged on and keep ther programs/files running whilst another user logs on also with out interuption.

This sounds like a registry issue i would suggest repairing the OS

The one time that I ran into this issue, I solved it by using System
Restore to go back to a (recent) point where things worked.

Otherwise, try this fix from MVP Kelly:

#34, left side. Read the directions at the top of the page and create a
System Restore point first.

If you use Kelly's reg file, please post back with results.
