Trying to figure out some things.

In System >User Profiles
There is "Account Unknown"
38193KB
Local

What is this?

I cannot see it in
C:\Documents and Settings

Also in
C:\Documents and Settings
What is Default User?

1. When you delete an existing user account, the 'User Profile' will become
'unknown'. The user settings/folders, should still be in ..\Documents and
Settings folder though.
(If you were to delete this profile from the User Profile, the
correspondending folders will be deleted).

2. The Default Users are settings which newly created account will get their
default settings from. These settings are also used by some system services.

FYI. There is also a 'All Users' folder in which you could configure
settings (e.g. program menu, desktop shortcuts, favorites...) which will be
available to all users who logon to the system.

Rgds.

Still puzzled

I am logged on with full Administrator
rights and see no profile named unknown
in Documents and Settings.

But in System >User Profiles
there is "Account Unknown"

I am logged on with full Administrator
rights and see no profile named unknown
in Documents and Settings.

It would be named for a previous user account (that is now gone)
"Account unknown" means there is no cross reference of an SID with a
named account. IOW orphaned.
