user:password@website doesn't work with XP

I need to know how I can log into the websites I have subscribed to using the format user:password@website using windows XP. Thanks

I heard that had been switched off in IE in a recent security patch due to
it being used to fool people to go sites that mimiced others such as ebayand
financial institutions.

As in go to www.bankname.com:1234@abcde where to 99% of users it looks as if
they are going to www.bankname.com

You might try another browser and see if that allows it.

If you have installed the MS04-004 Cumulative Security Update for
Internet Explorer (832894), that URL syntax is no longer supported.
