USER.EXE and RPCRT4.DLL violations

I have started getting "Explorer has caused a violation in
USER.EXE" and "Explorer has caused a violation in
RPCRT4.DLL" error messages over the past day or so shortly
after I start my IE6 browsing session. Then I'm shut out
of my browser. I tried reloading a previous version of
IE6 but am still getting these messages. There doesn't
appear to be anything in the Knowledge base that addresses
these problems. Any solutions?
