Hi all

This is for me a Very strange issue but maybe some experience people can
help me here. I have exc2003 server and outlook 2003 runing on xp pro. i
have only one user in my organisation that cannot work in outlook with her
details BUT if i log onto OWA with her username and password it works 100%.
If i setup a profile in outlook and try to send/receive i everytime get the
dialogue box to put in the username and password. i have reset the password
about 5 times and everytime the new password works in OWA but NOT in a
outlook profile. How do i fix this very frustrating issue - Thanks for your
time and help.

Can you create her profile on another client pc running Outlook?

Has the user got ZoneAlarm or Windows Firewall enabled?

Have you modified any user attributes using something like ADModify?

Yes, i tried that and i'm having the same issues

She might have Windows Firewall enabled but i'm not sure. Don't think it
will be this because we moved her profile to a pc that has a outlook profile
which was working 100% and it still didn't work

No, i don't even know what ADModify is

Hey,

Ok in this circumstance i'd say just exmerge the mailbox data out (if any is
there) and then delete and recreate her mailbox - this is probably going to
be the easiest option for you.

re: ADModify;

With this tool you can disable MAPI access for users via it's GUI. It's a
pretty simple process and I wondered if you had used it an inadvertently
blocked MAPI access on her account.

If you're interested: it blocks MAPI access by configuring the
'protocolsettings' attribute of a user. I forget the exact syntax but it
would give this attribute something like $$MAPI$$ to disable it.

Ok - thanks. She is using a POP3 account in a remote site. So i don't have
to exmerge. I will just delete her mailbox and re-create it again and then
import from the pst file...

Ok so she's just using POP3?

Is she the only user at this remote site?

If she isn't, then i'd say this issue is just with her account name - which
is why authentication is knackered.

So, must i still delete her account and create it again?
