Hello,
recently I got on my laptop computer which has windows xppro sp2
installed with all updates prior to two weeks ago. To my surprise after I
logged in. Found out when I went to do updates that the account I signed
into was limited! So i loged off and to my surprise my administrator account
is gone? Only the one account was available and it is limited Went into
control pnl. and user accounts and only the limitted account was there? No
means to add accounts or anything? What if anything can I do to get these
options back into the control pnl. under user accounts? If anyone has had
this problem or any ideas how to fix please send the information I need to
fix! Thank you for your time and knowledge in advance!

See if you can log on with the built-in Administrator account.

Log off from the limited account, Start -> Log Off.
At the Welcome screen, hit Ctrl + Alt + Del twice to bring up the Logon to
Windows dialog.
Enter Administrator in the User Name box.
If you set up a password for this account, enter it now. Otherwise, leave the
password box blank.

If you set a password for this account and you can't remember it, take a look at
these web sites.

Offline NT Password & Registry Editor

If you're able to log on with the Administrator account, right click My Computer
and select Manage from the menu.
In Computer Management, click on Local Users and Groups.
Click on the Users folder.
Check the status of the missing admin account. You may find that it has been
disabled.

Good luck
